Humility Pleasing To God ◡̈

In this blog,  I will be talking about the significance of humility, sharing how God corrected me and gave me a new perspective on what humility would look like in certain areas of my life.

Philippians 2:1-4

Therefore, if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ,

If any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

When I was in college, one day I  was driving back to my dorm, listening to worship music, and I had a conversation with God. I said, “ Can you please reveal any misconceptions that I believe about you that negatively affect how I see you and how I see myself ?”

The reason why I prayed this is because how you see God, and what you believe about Him, can affect how you see and what you believe about yourself.

So, after I prayed this, a couple of hours later, He revealed to me that the misconception that I have about Jesus is that I see him as “weak and not having any power”. And of course, these are not my direct thoughts or beliefs that I hold about him, but this subconsciously shows up in my actions and how I respond in certain situations.

He said, “In situations where you are presented with the choice to respond in Love or to respond in your flesh, you end up choosing to respond in your flesh because you believe that it’s weak to respond how Christ would.” Your authority is found in Humility & by practicing true humility, we are able to embody the characteristics of Christ and do what is pleasing to God.
